10 Reasons why we love working in the graphic design industry

  1. Graphic design is a form of visual communication – we get to speak a new language of lines, forms, colours, patterns and textures;
  2. The symbolic language of graphic design is universal – it has the ability to communicate across different cultures, languages and countries;
  3. When we start out on a new project we get to investigate and learn more about many different industries:  technology, tourism, education, entertainment, environmental sustainability, religion, hospitality etc. – we’ve (almost) seen it all!
  4. In print design we get to see the fruits of our labor as physical objects, be it printed menus, posters, wine labels, CD sleeves, business cards etc.
  5. What we create, inspires the people around us – it is wonderful to see a client fall in love with a design!
  6. We get to have fun with cutting-edge software technology that keeps evolving and improving – Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver etc.
  7. We draw inspiration from everything around us – any object we see could spark a new design idea;
  8. Creative potential lies within us – we are continuously building an internal database of visual references that grow and develop with each design;
  9. We can design anywhere – conceptualising and brainstorming can be done in a coffee shop, a park or on the beach! With ‘cloud’ services like Dropbox or Google Drive our projects can be accessed from anywhere.
  10. Design has the ability to influence people in a positive way – visual communication has the power to change someone’s behaviour for good. For example, our WWF-SASSI pocket card design influences thousands of consumers throughout South Africa to make sustainable seafood choices.
